The first episodes of the upcoming energized a collection series Secret Level are scheduled to air on December 10, 2024, for those who are eagerly awaiting its premiere. However, there's a catch: the 15 episodes will be made available on Prime Video in two distinct drops, and there's a very good reason for that. Tim Miller and Dave Wilson explained the rationale for the staggered release plan in an interview with Steve Weintraub of Collider at New York Comic Con. They feel that this would increase anticipation and give each episode more chances to shine.
We drop—I'd like to say half—but it's not quite half. The episodes will be released in two separate installments on December 10 and December 17, Wilson explained. Miller went on to say that rather than choosing them at random, the two were eager to split them into designated areas:
The unconventional character of Secret Level's anthology format—which adapts a variety of titles, from the serious Warhammer to the humorous Spelunky—was a significant deciding factor. In reference to the difficulty of releasing episodes with such different tones side by side, Miller said, "It's really hard to put Spelunky next to Warhammer and have people enjoy them both equally." Additionally, Wilson clarified that one of the releases was more adult-oriented than the other, saying, "They're slightly curated based on the sort of adult audience versus less so."

'Secret Level': How Will It Be Advertised?
A simpler advertising strategy is also offered by the choice to space out the release. Wilson clarified that it's crucial to give each game and episode its own moment in the limelight because there are 15 different publishers and developers engaged. That's a lot of megaphones to try to blast in a loud noise over the course of one weekend, isn't it? "Can we give folks a little bit more of a runway to help us promote the show and put it out there?" was therefore our constant objective. The idea was always to attempt to stagger it somewhat.
Miller concurred, pointing out that the company can more effectively coordinate marketing initiatives across social media and Twitch with a spaced release. "Instead of just the large tent pole IPs consuming all the air in the room, you want to give everyone a chance to shine."
Half of the 15 Secret Level episodes will be released on December 10, 2024, and the other half on December 17. For further coverage of New York Comic Con, keep checking Collider.
